Chatting with Writers

I've had the pleasure of joining a Zoom group chat this evening with others who are taking on the NaNoWriMo challenge. They shared their project ideas, all of which sound very interesting and two of them would definitely make my shopping list if they reach print.

The session host was a published author, Jacqueline Ward. It was so uplifting to be able to talk with her about how I'm approaching my own project and to listen to how she and the others in the group are tackling their own.

I went into the session feeling a little apprehensive, me not being a 'proper writer', but I didn't feel at any point that I didn't belong. I learned a huge amount in a short space of time, had some very reassuring feedback on my approach and I'm looking forward to the next one.

The session was intended to be a group 'write in', but between an apparently-worldwide Zoom dropout, the wrong session time showing on the NaNoWriMo website and me having to put Olivia to bed, I couldn't join the write in part of the meeting. However, I did commit to spending at least another fifty minutes on the project this evening, so I'd better stop writing this and get back to writing that.
